battery gaugu bouncing

why would my battery gauge dance. it usually settles down after warm up, but today
it kept bouncing all the way to work she's a '75... also the interor lits flicker with the gauge...
any suggestions ?????

Alt Dying

I assume the bounce is going negative, and the light's dim... either you have a short somewhere,or the Alt is dying. Need more info.

gauge is bouncing positive--- no other problems. everything elsa seems o.k.

Hmmmmmmm

Voltage reg in the ALT or Alt itself... The Positive bounce means the Alt is outting out more juice than it should.. could be a multitude of things... but I would have the ALT checked first.

How many miles on this one?
