I have had the 1990 for just under 2 weeks, and today I noticed that one of the rear tires was quite low. I was inflating it and as it came up, I heard a hissing sound, and I continued to fill it to the recommended 35PSI, and as it reached it, the hissing stopped. To be safe, I took it to the Goodyear store locally (I have no spare which I am taking care of), and after they removed the wheel, they found a minor bend in the inner rim. They said there didn't appear to be any cracks, but they couldn't repair it for me. They said that SOMETIMES the "flat-fix" in a can will do the job, at least temporarily.

I was given and name of a place not too far away, and they said they could usually repair the rims they get in the shop. Takes about an hour, and is $79/hour for the work. I am wondering if I can get a used rim in good shape for about that same price, and/or if a different used rim is a better bet than a repaired one (depends of course on who repairs it and what the real damage is once the tire is off). I looked at the area of the rim, and it is about 2" long, and might be displaced about 1/4" total, so doesn't look too bad. Any words of wisdom? Thanks, Tim

Well I just made a search of tires and rims on ebay...but did not find a specific rim that year. Although there are many other rims available. Good luck...

Eagle85C4,

Thanks for checking! I checked as well and didn't find any. I am leaning toward having the tire store take the tire off and bringing it to the frame and wheel place and seeing what they can do for me. I am pretty sure it will be less than a new used wheel. I am sure that once they can seee it in person, they can give me an idea os whether it is easily fixable ot not.

This will only help those of you in the Seattle area, but I found a place that did the straightening very quickly (while I watched - very fun to see him prying and yanking the wheel this way and that) and brought it back to straight and true. The place is called "Foster's Wheel Service" and is located at 4012 Leary Way NW in Seattle - (206) 789-5353. The whole process took less than 15 minutes, and although it was fairly expensive ($85) it was much better than buying a new wheel. I was happy with their work. They mounted and balanced the tire along with it, and sent me on my way. Corey Youngren was very helpful.
