Best Theft Detterent? ... Keep driving it..... FAST. No car thief or car jacker wants to mess with a vehicle going 175 :L :L

YES - you do have a great point there. But when you stop for fuel, keep Mr. Glock handy :r

Leave one of those Arizona Diamond Backs on the drivers seat.

You do not need to be present for it to activate!

How about one of those battery quick disconnect switches that Ecklers and Mid-America sells? I'm going to get one of these plus the brake lock because I hate alarm systems and they are useless anyhow. You just twist the knob and it kills the power from the battery, then you can take the knob with you so no thief can steal a dead car.. unless they tow it. Anyone use one of these?

CarDefender (RFID) immobilizer – C5 installation question

I will be installing an RFID system, like what you use at modern plants that require you to pass your ID card across a scanner.

Reference: http://www.cardefender.com/support_diagram_basic

Which “circuit to be immobilized or Critical System” should I use?

I could use Body Control Module (BCM) C3 pin#B7-Circuit 625 (Starter Enable Relay Control) (page 8-17 on my 2004 vol. 2 Service Manual)

Anyone done this, thoughts?

Thanks

Interesting! Have not thought of that Cardefender system
Last aftermarket alarm I installed was a pain in the a$$ to put in.
It was a FM transmitter system.
Would page me within a mile of the vehicle and show me on the graphic what was being tripped or tampered with on the vehicle.

Never did get it to stop going off when I'd turn on the inside light to read a map at night or find my gear. .haha (yes, I know I needed to have it trip via another method than interior light)

Let us know if you go with the Cardefender!

Interesting concept but....
All it is doing is cutting one wire and running it thru a switch.
I haven't sat down and read the details on this thing yet but seems as though a small hidden toggle switch will work just as well. Just not as high tech or high priced.

Someone gets in the car, finds the box and reconnects the 2 wires and they are off.

I use a device on three of my cars called the Immobilizer. It prevented the theft of my Suburban. The device is wired into three different circuits and has either a touch key or a proximity key-fob to de-activate it to start the car. With out de-activating the device the car will not start. The device is wired with the same color wires running through the wiring harness replacing the original wiring making it almost impossible to hot wire (if installed correctly you can’t trace the wires). It took the agency four hours to get the car started. The thief will have to tow your car.

I am having an Immobilizer installed on my 02 Vette.

I just removed a system called Power Lock, great idea but it is not perfected yet. It has failed three times and the last time I had to have my car towed a 100 miles to the shop. I was on vacation and had to rent a car. Really ****ed me off not to mention how my wife felt about it. That system is gone.
