For longer drives I am thinking of getting a front cover (bra) .....any opinions?

thanks

Sam

Chips happen, just drive.

The problem with bras is when they are misused, by poor fitment or dirty materials.

If either the bra or car is dirty, anything trapped between the bra and car becomes an abrasive. Moisture can also cause problems, so don't leave the bras on longer than necessary.

With those negative opinions of mine stated and out of the way...I'm sure there are many companies today who are making quality car bras with fabulous fit for your generation vette.
Overall, if you are trying to keep rock chips to a minimum, a car bra will certainly aid you in that regard.

I always use a mask on long trips. I modified one of the C2 masks that covers the nose and the bumpers to cover the nose only - then I created two separate pieces to cover the bumpers (and my expensive rechrome).

I have learned the hard way that the mask is a lot cheapedr than front end repaints to remove stone damage. Check out the mask on the Details page linked off my home page (listed below).

One or more of the catalogs now sells a version of the nose only mask that I made, but the bumper covers are not available.

If you want one of the older masks that covers the bumper and the nose, I have one I picked up at a swap meet. Email me.

I added hold down straps to prevent high speed flapping and I always wax the nose before installing a mask for a trip. I also remove them at night when the car is left out, so that dew or rain will not wash dirt down under the mask. My paint job is 15 years old and still looks great.

I knew magic was going to have something up his sleave on this one

Yeah, I figured he would, too!

Isn't there some product, Cleartastic or something, that is a clear static-sticking sheet that can go on C2s? Seems they had a C2 set, but not C1.

Cleartastic for the front?
I have seen it for the rear panels behind the wheels......

Cleartastic - or whatever is used to cover expensive headlamps is almost as expensive as the lamps.

NCRS guys on the Sun Valley ID tour used helicopter tape - also expensive - what they put on the helicopter blades.

Some guys use Saran Wrap to keep the bugs off - but the stuff isn't thick enough to stop rocks.

That's how I ended up with a custom mask. For those of you with cubic money, their is an outfit calle dSpeed Lingerie that will custom

Just me pal...

I think your car looks awesome with out it.....i have yet to see a bra that looks good on a Corvette... no offence magic....i dont see one that would look good on the front of yours....it looks good with out...but its just me!

:w

I didn't put it on to improve the looks of the car. Neither do the NCRS people who stick helicopter tape to the front end of their Top Flight vehicles. IMO - if you drive a lot - with semis and SUVs throwing stones and grit at your low car everywhere you go, you will eventually need a mask to cove up your chipped front end fiberglass. Insurance companies pay to repair stone damage, but the car will only stand so many coats of paint - even if it does match.
