Just want to say how muck I'm enjoying the BFGs. They have far less traction than my GS D3s in back so ASR OFF is a real nostalgic experience. These came with the used wheels, ride decent, but F1s are next.

It's strange getting sideways a little at 30 when 2nd gear catches! Like the good ole days! The GY just don't bust loose. That's why they wear out in the rear after 20k.

All systems still go.

Hmmm.. wondering if this is a complaint about BFG's or a kudo for GY's???

I just got some Kumho MX's and like them so far. I need to drive them in warm weather to see if they stick better than the F1's I had on the car. I've also used BFG G-Force's before and was not impressed by them... aside from getting sideways being fun. ;LOL

I finally did something about the tires on the '89 Ebay rat and went with the BFG G-Force KDWs (the Continental Extreme Contacts that came with the car were fine, but the previous owner told me one tire had to be returned because of balance problems, and they started acting up again recently and refused to be fixed; at least I got a good 11,000 miles out of them). TireRack finally had the BFGs on sale, and a local Discount Tire would match that price plus $10/tire and mount and balance for $10/tire. I know people raved about the Goodyear GS-D3s, but you have to set a limit on creeping upward prices at some point and I just cringed at the price without a satisfaction guarantee, and while I liked the tread pattern, I didn't like the sidewalls and shoulders (too busy/rounded). Also, Goodyears, for me, have had a spotty track record. I've either liked them (the old Gatorbacks on my IROC Z) or been very disappointed (the GSCs on my old IROC). I went with the BFGs since, technically, they reminded me of some old BFG-forces I had on the IROC which were just terrific---neither twitchy or mushy, with good wet traction. These KDWs felt exactly the same as those earlier BFGS as I pulled away from the store in the rat into Houston freeway traffic and a driving rain (your immediate impression of a tire tends to be the one which actually sticks with you), and they look terrific, too, on the black AFS ZR1-style wheels---sort of brawny American. We'll see, but so far so good, and the rat seems pleased and we can use the money saved for something else.

What BFGs do you have KD, KDW, or KDWS?

KDWS are all weather tires they dont even come close to the performance of the KDW od KDs....You are comparing apples to oranges...

Well, I'm not sure on who is replying to who, but I have the KDW, which is the wet weather version of the KD and not the all season KDWS. I was comparing my KDWs(small "s", as in more than one KDW) to some old BFGoodrich Comp T/As I had. So far, they're great!

Cheers,

I was replying to tlong it is not fair to compair KDWS to GS-D3s. The KDW would be a fair comparison however. I hope this clears it up. I have been trying to buy a set of KDW for like two monthes but no one has them in my size 285 40 17.

If you have a local Discount Tire, try going there and ask them to get the tires at the TireRack price. I was thinking about 285s, but decided to stick with the 275s as the car is so well set-up that I didn't want to mess with things.

No discount tires around here. I have called 15 places and looked on tire rack nothing.

Well, the first step is to make sure that the tires are even made in that size. I think they are (based on what I think I saw on the TireRack website), but why don't you call TireRack to make sure? Or, you can simply do a Google search and call BF Goodrich customer service and ask---they are very helpful.

Even if you don't have a Discount Tire near you, you can look-up their website and call them. I think that they have a service that will deliver the tires to dealers near you, much like Tire Rack.
