I am interested in putting a big block into my 1998, is there a GM part number or does anybody recommend a aftermarket kit for this project.

Tight Pie,
If you have around $10,000 and some patience, you could order a C5-R 427 block from GM (around $6,500), port and polish a set of Z06 heads, bore out Holley Z06 aluminum plenum, headers, B&B exhaust. It would be a very formidable set-up and dependable. The C5-R racing block is truly a work of art.

I say keep the LS1 . Install a cam , heads , headers and a super charger . I think this will achieve what you are looking for with less work and money .
Thanks ,
Joe

If you're wanting a big block, you could do the Vortec 8100. It has been done in the C5.

Altho the 427s that're out now arent really big blocks, they've got amazing potential. It seems everyone has a 422/427 car out now thats just insane. Personally, i say keep the LS1 in there, do a heads/cam application, do all the other bolt ons and do a big shot of nitrous, or forced induction. That'll give you just as much power and probably be cheaper, than goin big block

The C6, according to Motor Trend, will use the 500HP v-8 that is really 1/2 of the Cadillac 1000HP V16 shown this year. RJS
