Big Block or other?

The fuel line is the same size it just different at the end of it in the engine bay.

Measuring from the center of the fuel line clamp on the top of the frame on the passenger side.

Small block to the buldge is aprox 5 1/4
the big block should measure around 9 3/4.

Heh ..square me away here......Isn't the complete lentgh of the BB fuel line larger then the SB Line? I think the line I just put on my car is 3/8'' in diameter..Vs..1/4" which was the old original SB line I removed.

Or.....am I wrong as usual....:L

good catch Larry!
he must have been p*ssed at you for catching him in his lies. :D
nothing like being an educated buyer.

Barry the problem is the fellows making these cars are more knowlegable then the normal buyer.

A couple of year ago I was at a vendors trailer at carlilse picking up some brake lines for my 66. A fellow was asking about big block fuel lines and grabbed 4 of them,(all the guy had) and as he was paying for them and these 3 fellows wearing vettehead hats or shirt commented real loud about how 4 new big blocks were being born and we were all able to see the insemanation. At first I was offended with there comments and thought they were out of place ,but as I was walking away I understoof what they were commenting on.(sometimes I am a little slow)

;LOL ;LOL
wearing Vettehead gear......... i guess a good chance one of those fellows was JohnZ

I am curious to know about the fuel line thing as well. I always thought...at least in the case of my 67...that the fuel line was the same diameter 3/8" but where it made the turn from the frame to the fuel pump it was more of a 90 degree angle instead of the less severe turn with the small blocks.

When I was looking for the BB car that was one of the things I would always look for. This seems to be the place that most amatures over look when doing the conversion and then trying to pass it off as the real deal.

all 66big blocks used an 11" clutch with a 14" diameter 168 tooth flywheel, EXCEPT L-88 (which used a 10.4" clutch with a 12-1/2" , 153 tooth flywheel) The '444' bellhousing is designed for use with a 14" flywheel. It was used for 1966 and very early 1967 Corvette with 427 (except L-88). Other BB-SB differences:
front AND rear sway bar
instruments (oil and possibly tach)
Steel line from high limit oil pressure gage to engine.
front springs (tagged)
LH battery holder and BB cables
Riveted battery cable clip near pass. side of tunnel opening
washer fluid bag (on A-C cars)
radiator, shroud, and no aluminum expansion tank
Tapped differential yokes with bolt on caps.
hood
all engine accessories except PS pump
power steering hose and fitting
clutch cross shaft
probably the flywheel and clutch assembly
lower splash shields
2.5 inch exhausts
exhaust heat shields
.375 fuel line pointed forward for BB pump
different code stamped on differential
BB throttle lever curves back from pivot toward rear of car, SB is straight
Riveted battery cable clip near pass. side of tunnel opening
Notch cut in front valence of 66-67s above RH bumper bracket
Registration weight shows BB added, "add" weights:
a31 Power window +5
co7 Hard top____+49
c48 less Heater __-20
c60 a-c_________+93
j50 power Brake ___ +12

The base car is a 327 with 3 speed.

Coupe curb weight 3140

The following is from an earlier thread "How do I find out orginal specs for my car?", courtesy of Barry K.
"here is list of some things you might want to look for as clues to it being an original BB car, but it's not a complete list by any means:

6500 rpm tach
80 oil pressure gauge
check your VIN # - BB396's didn't start until approx VIN#13,000 which would be a build date somewhere around the middle or end of March '65.
BB cars had a 90* bend in the fuel line at the fuel pump
battery tray on left hand side of car (SB is on right hand except for A/C cars)
fan shroud is two sections
larger radiator core support with an arched top and 2 diagonal rods welded to the front
7/8" or 15/16" front stablizer bar (std SB was 3/4")
half shaft attaches to yoke assembly via a steel cap with bolts
9/16" rear stabilizer bar

there are lotas of others, ...."
