Question: birdcage

I've seen comments about making sure the birdcage is good & solid before
buying an old Corvette... so what's a good way to do this on a C1/C2?
I'm particularly interested in C2 convertibles.

take out the glove box liner is possible and look where the windshield hit the
frame. a little surface rust is normal, but no holes or a lot. jim
