" Vettelt193 Black wheels on a black car look great, but they need the polished lip because without it the contrast looks funny between the black of the tire and black of the wheel. the rims shown look great
In general, Black wheels look more defined on a black (or other dark) car. If you want your wheels to not have much definition, you would put black wheels on a light/bright car. If you want to have less definition of the car/body, you would want chrome/bright wheels on a darker car.

Well, unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera. I guess it's just a matter of taste, but I have seen a number of cars with all black wheels which look (to me) great. There's a road race/track look to it that I like, and when they get brake dust on them I even like it better because it tones down the shine and makes it all sort of blend in and look more race-like (actually, like you've just come off the track). But, don't forget, it's just a matter of taste, like the silver GS fender stripes. Personally, I like them better than the red. I have a small "red line synthetic oil" decal on the side of the rear hatch, too. As you can tell, my '89 Ebay rat is all tricked-out for the "Bloomington Gold" crowd! I call the look "post-modern boy racer". One thing I have noticed is that most of the real innovative action in cars today is comming from the street and tuners crowd. What these guys can do on limited budgets and working with basic cars is amazing. The "Bloomington Gold" Corvette types are rapidly becomming the fuddy-duddys of the performance car world. You see many more painted wheels, and wheels like the AFS black wheels we are discussing on these tuner street cars. Indeed, one of these guys and his girl in a tricked-out Subaru stopped me awhile back and said he really liked them and what they did for the C4, even though the basic design of the wheels goes back to the early '90s and the C4 even earlier. So, what I am saying is not only do I find that these please me, they have a way of updating the car as well as making it appealing to a whole new generation.
