Bob Lutz claims pushing Corvette ZR-1 over 200mph

November 14, 2007

Our very reliable sources had a sit down with ‘the Lutz’ last night on the eve of the 2007 LA Auto Show. Bob Lutz, Vice Chairman of GM, was nothing but friendly about sharing what GM has in the works.

While many of you think the 75 year Lutz may not have much ‘need-for-speed,’ our sources say that during casual conversation over dinner, Lutz mentioned that he personally pushed the upcoming Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 over 200mph at the Michigan Proving Ground.

Lutz also confirmed that the ZR-1 will make its official debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. The ZR-1 is expected to be powered by a 6.2 liter V8 engine that will produce 650 horsepower.

Anybody have the date's for the Detroit Auto Show in 2008?;shrug

NAIAS Dates

:wThanks Rob, those dates are very doable:beerScott

The show is open to the public from Saturday 19 January to Sunday 27 January. Before that it is only open to Mfgs and press. The NCM is hosting a pre-show opening intro to the new ZR1 one hour before the show opens to the public on Saturday 19 January. See the museum web site for details.

I would love to be at the show in January, but there is no way I can get off to make the trip at that time next year. I guess I will be watching it online like when the C6 debuted.

I'll probably go see it at the Chicago Auto Show. I remember the C6 Z06 when I saw it at the CAS.:upthumbs

Bring the ZR-1 to the Houston Auto Show please GM! I would love to just drool over looking at it.:rotfl
