If anyone is interested in participating in the body lift on Saturday, January 14th. You are more than welcome to come over. If you want to come, I would ask that you let me know so that there is enough food and drink, nothing worse than running out of food.

I am no longer in Fremont, we now live in Norwalk. If you know where Cedar Point is, we are due south. I can provide directions for anyone that wants to come. If you look on a map, Norwalk is just south of the Ohio Turnpike at Ohio Route 250.

My plan is to use my 4 post lift to get the body off the frame. From there depending on how long that takes to get the car on the dolly, my plan is to get the motor and stock tranny mounted so that the new mounts for the motor can be positioned for welding on the frame. I am sure that there is a ton of stuff to be done.....just haven't figured out everything as of yet.

So let me know as I have gotten some inquiries.....

Herb

There is a mall north of us in Sandusky....about 14 or so miles away....in fact there are a number of stores on the strip up there in addition to the mall.....

sorry Herb, just a bit too far away or else I'd love to be there and help
You could leave the house on Friday after work....get here late Friday night....we have an extra room.......work ALL day on Saturday well into the night....then get up bright and early and go home on Sunday....doesn't seem that far away when I put it in those terms.....of course if my son comes over from Michigan, then you would have to take the couch.......after all, blood is thicker than Corvettes.....

Too far for me,but I will be thinking about you guys.

the first time I pulled my 62 off it frame we ran out of room with the 4 post as it would not raise it high enough to roll the old frame out or the new one in. We actually had to remove the tires and set the frame on snowmobile skates (simular to carskates) to get it low enough to get it out.

In your case your may have a problem getting the body high enough to get the dolly under it.For some reason I thought you had a 2 post lift.

Good luck and check the height of how high the lift will actually lift it

how high were your ceilings? my motor is out...so that might help? of course when I go to put it back in the motor will be in......was your windshiled frame off? perhaps I should take my frame off? I have two lifts, one of them will lift higher.....how high should it be able to go do you think?

I could pull the tires off to begin with. Right now the car has tires on and sitting on the car skates I have.....let me know.....Herb

herb ceiling height was not a factor, but the lifting height of the lift was. I will post some photos tonight. We had the windsheild in and strapped the body 1/2 below the lift My lift is a standard height lift not the taller one for SUV'S

Good luck with it

where did you attach the straps to the body for the lift? any photos? that would help too so I can make sure I have enough straps and any hardware required to attach for the lift.....

thanks

Herb

if you have enough guys there that day, around 6 or 8 of them, perhaps you can manually lift the body off instead of your 4-post lift if it doesn't give you enough lifting height.
A body with a stripped out interior shouldn't way TOO much I'd imagine and than one additional person can roll the frame out and roll the dolly under the body.
