I imagine that was overkill knowing Bob :L
right now I am figuring 3 people....if I need to get more, I could ask my neighbor and his son, although I don't know if they will be home.....sometimes yes and sometimes no on the weekend.....also, if I can figure out a way to do this with the lift, given that I need to put the body on and off several times to check for clearances and such things, it makes sense to be able to do it easily and preferably with no more than one or at the most two people....having never done it before, it makes sense to me to have extra eyes watching the first time it is pulled.....so we need to develop an easy method with the 4 post frame to pull as well as place back on.....then I can do a lot of checking before I send the body out for paint......I would like to know that when it comes from paint that the body will go down on the frame one time and be there to minimize handling and scars to it.......

So I just got home from work and will find some pictures,

Ideally its best when the car has to go on and off a couple of times that you use some type of a mecanical lift. My 4 post was not the best solution.

I used the ceiling in my shop several times and that was by far the safest as the last time I set it in my shop I used the electric winch connected to my pick up truck with a snatch block.

The last time I set the body on the frame I used my engine crane (with the help of my wife, this was done on my driveway.the engine crane did not roll so easey on the driveway

Hard to describe but I used a D ring as part of my support of the body and as I was rolling the body on the engine crane towards the frame (with my wife steading the body) ,it rolled side ways thru the D ring as if it was going to lay down on the drive way on its side,

quick thinker that I am thought I could stop it from rolling and wedge my hand in between the rocker panel and the engine crane crushing 2 fingers .

My wife was so nervous about setting the body I never screamed in pain.I just told her this is no problem dont panic just raise the car back up so I can get my hand out.

I have both kinds of lifts....one that a SUV can drive under and the other one is smaller......I have the bigger one loaded with my Z06 on top and the C5 vert undreneath....no big deal to move them.....probably what I should plan on doing anyways....that way we won't have to fuss and move stuff around at the last minute....I also figured I would pull the tires off and set the drums in the car dollys that would also take some height out of it.....we will be ok, that tall lift goes plenty high.....but what I don't know is where we will attach to and then I need to make sure I have enough straps to grab and pull....perhaps I will buy a few more and if we don't need them, I can take them back.....better to have enough than come up short and waste time running out.....

Herb,
I'm really interested in these lifts. My garage has 9-10ft. ceilings, curious if that is tall enough,or do I need to build a new garage.Be checking yours out saturday..

no problem....at 9' I think it might be a challenge.....but at 10', I can easliy get two Corvettes stacked with extra clearance...can't put my pickup under the lift with the Vette on top.....that would be a problem....but they are here and work great.....

this is the bigger lift....taller and lifts higher....

When using the 4 post lift. On the front I just went thru the radiator support. then on the rear I used the racheting tow straps tied to the rocker panels.

When I used the engine crane I used the seat belt ancors

any reason why I can't use the seat belt anchors ONLY and lift at that point? is the car fairly balanced at that lift point and only that lift point? Using only that point would certainly be the easiest....

I guess the only bad weather is in your part of Ohio.
