body rotissere

Larry,

The decision to make the body fit so close was in part for shop room, but strength of the cantilevered arm was a consideration. It has enough room for sanding and body work, but does not allow a straight shot with a spray gun in these 2 areas. I made the pivot pipe too long as well, and I could take at least 8" of total length out of the entire unit by trimming the pivots down. Too bad you are so far away, I took my body off the rotissere for the last time this past weekend, and you could use it. Unfortunately, It would probably cost as much to ship it to you as it cost to build! I finished up the last few little items on my chassis Saturday, and installed the body for the last time, I hope! I will now take the rotissere apart and store it at work in one of my storage rooms, so that it is out of the way. Here are some pics of the body going on for the final time. It is a real milepost on the project, and I can see a light at the end of the tunnell!

That is quite a mile stone for sure. Now you get to start lacing the wireing harness.

What did you end up useing for the body mounts? I am looking for a very dence rubber material (like a convayer belt ) No larger then 3/8" in thickness that I could make a round shape out of for my body mounts.I want the wheel wells as tight to the tires as possible.

Seems like mine will be going on and off the frame several more times as there is concern about having all of the body seams (door gaps, hood area, rear trunk, convertable top cover) and the front end repairs being done with the car on its final frame with it shimmed to perfect lines. They will then do all of the glass work needed, set all of the gaps adding and removing material as needed for the gaps. then the out side of the car will be gel coated or sealed. then I get it back to seperated it and give it back on the body dolly/rotiserry. So they can final paint the car.

Alot different then what I had planned but I am leaving this to the experts.

PS

I got my wise guy seats and on the way back from the media blaster me and the car and the seats and the door panels have an appointment with the upolstry guy (they are in the same town about 1 hr north of me) so he can measure up some material and make and test fit the larger bolsters I want for the seats.

whats with the socks

That is one of my helpers with the socks. We had to go out to the back of the property to get some stuff out of my car trailer, and he walked through a mud puddle that almost swallowed him! LOL Luckily, it is still warm enough here that we can still run around bare-footed! You will notice the full trees and the freshly cut grass. This week is the first time it has been in the 70's since last March. It is sure nice to finally see some cool weather, and I am looking forward to leaving the garage door open this weekend and not having to run the A/C!
I ended up using a 1/4" firm rubber pad, and a 3/8" aluminum shim. This gasve me the clearance that I needed at all the critical locations.

Well I did not quite acomplish what I wanted to.I have to deliver the car to the media blaster on monday afternoon.I am going to go into work for 2 hrs or so.then when I get home I have to power wash the bottom of the car.remove the winsheild, and what little chrome I have left on the car.Ill take some photos of it on the trailer.

The car is real high in the air.I dont see how the body shop will be able to work on it so high up.I was not able to find the balance point eather so its diffacult to spin.

I was on my way to my shop with the car on the trailer and some pompass Fool in a 63 or a 64 raggy convert (with jersey plates ) pulled along side of me at a light and shouted some words of encouragement

" If your luckey in a couple of years it will look as good as mine"

I did not understand if he was trying to be nice to me or insulting me. Before I could ask him he disapeered into a cloud of blue smoke.
