I've searched this and other forums for info about the bose radio/cd ejecting discs and displaying "err". I saw one post claiming he had rebooted his radio head unit by disconnecting his batt. or pulling a fuse and waiting 20 mins. Has anyone done so? Or should I plan on replacing the radio? :confused I bought my '03 last fall and never tried the cd player untill now. Ive put both commercial and my own discs.

With the radio off, pull the "radio, compact disc player" fuse # 5 at the instrument panel fuse block for about 20 seconds and replace the fuse. This should correct the "ERR" message. The instrument panel fuse block is located on the passenger’s side of the vehicle, under the instrument panel and under the toe
-board. You will have to reset the clock after the fuse is replaced.

;shrug Tried that, same results. Guess it's just time to replace unit! Good time to make the dual zone display repair too! :w

Hijack of thread

Larry...not trying to hijack your thread...but seeing your last name...it's not a common one... do you have any relatives living in Michigan...I worked at a nuclear plant with a Ed Breault for 20 years...I think his family was from the Chicago area

;shrug Not to my knowledge, I grew up in Ks. then moved to Tx. for 20 yrs. Now enjoying Mo. Thanks for inquiring though. :beer

Many of head units were saved from scrap bin by running a CD cleaner disk through them. Like the one you can buy at Radio Shack. It's a blank CD with a small brush on it and it cleans the laser head. Worth a try before ponying up the cash.

I have one of those discs. It works on DVD players, too, and I highly recommend them.

Don't trash your Bose Head Unit.

Larry:

The same happened to me. It appeared as though it got worse over time. Skipping CD's, not able to read them sometimes. Home made CD's were the worse.

I took mine apart and cleaned the laser. I even wrote a procedure on how to do it. Its working great now ! Its just a build up of gunk on the laser. Easy to clean off.

My procedure is on my web page below.
Mark's 2004 Corvette Z06

Go to the bottom of my web page and click on "C5 Corvette - CD Player laser Cleaning Procedure"

Its a free and easy solution, and I was glad it worked for me. I hope it works for you too ! :thumb

PS this is my first post :D
