Help! Bose Gold Series low sound out of speakers

My 91 Bose gold Series radio plays very low, does anyone know how to proceed on getting some loud music out of it , or am i better off replacing it with a new aftermarket. I know i will need to rewire and install new speakers, any suggestions?

I know somewhere on here I have read that the preamps are on the speakers themselves and they can be repaired. I believe the capacitor on the amp is the thing that goes and can be replaced. Maybe someone here can direct you to the post.
