From the Bowling Green Performance Press:

Our third MVB, manufacturing validation build, for the 6th generation Corvette is under way. The build in cockpit started Thursday. Next week will have nine non-saleable Corvettes come off the line. During the week the launch team will review all of the fixes and part changes that are due to be fixed for this group of cars. "Our goal is to review all of the engineering work orders and temporary work orders that are supposed to fix issues that we had in earlier builds," said John Spencer, Manufacturing Launch Manager. "It is very important that we have the right part status as we move into building saleable vehicles."

After building the nine cars, the plant will determine when it will start building the rest of this group's cars. The Quality Valve to determine if we're ready to build saleable vehicles is scheduled for March 31st.

Ok, once they start building saleable cars, how long before they start showing up at dealers?

Does that mean that the C6 will be in production later this month when the tours reopen at the C5/C6 Birthday Bash?? I sure hope so because I'm going!!

Reubenmc: No.....the C5 Corvette build continues until July 2, 2004. The plant shuts down for the mandatory shut down period for the next 2 weeks...then, starting July 19, 2004 the C6 production starts. So, if your going to the Z06 Performance Fest at the NCM, July 22-24, 2004 you will see C6 on the line! :)

See you there! :)

FYI - The plant will be mixing in a few C6's with regular C5 production when Plant Tours resume.

Later . . . . . .
6 Shooter
