Brake booster problem?

I have a 66 and the trouble is that sometimes (particularly when cold) the brake pedal sticks down holding the brakes on and then slowly comes back up.

When I disconnect the vacume pipe the pedal is hard (obviously) but the pedal returns.

Could this be a problem with the white knuckle valve on the servo for the vacume pipe?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds more like a sticky reaction valve (inside, on the pedal pushrod end of the booster); time for a rebuild.

I think you're probably right....it doesn't seem to be letting air back into the servo.

Thing is it has just been rebuilt....about 100 miles ago.

Don't you just love old cars. ;)
