What is the best way to compress my brake caliper pistons to remove my rotor and replace the pads, on my 90 coupe?
I can't seem to separate the caliper-mounting bracket from the caliper and rotor, or get the pads out.
Which part comes out first?

Tom

What about a C-clamp? I would remove the cap on your brake fluid, so it wont pop off and spray fluid when you start compressing the pistons.

Thanks.

All the brake parts are really rusted together, that’s what the problem is.

Let me ask another question: What is the best type of brake pads to install??
Pep Boys, are offering ceramic pads, for 70.00 dollars, for the front and same for the rear.
Are these ceramic good?
Tom

Depends what kind of driving you do really. I think ceramic pads are for more aggressive driving. So if you just drive your car on the weekends etc etc, just go with the stock replacements. I am not that familiar with ceramic pads so I can't tell you how much better they are, but I have heard that they are better.

Ceramic pads ussually don't create as much brake dust. Hawk and ATE are good pads.
