Brake pad types and performance

Ok we all see the "What's your favorite pad?" post come up monthly. Now I'm more interested in a comparisson of types of pads and application. You can throw in your favorite brand name if you would like.

For example:

Ferro-Carbon, Carbon-metallic (semi-metallic), Ceramic, etc... Wear, noise, dusting, fade, heat tolerence etc.

Which would you prefer on the Vette for day to day driving and some autocrossing?

Carbon pads would work the best, but they dont last long, they need heat to work great, and they create an enormous amount of dust. The semis are a good bit better and I think theyre probably the best for a serious autox'er.
