all of a sudden my brake pedal goes to the floor. and it is hard to stop had the brakes bleed over the winter what should i check for?:pat

Mine did the same thing. I replaced the master cylinder.

Lets see, its usually the Master Cylinder when they go soft. Its the Brake Power Booster when they get really hard.

Well... at last I am not alone anymore,

Before the last monday i was thinking tat I have the best brakes in town, but after a short race vs volvo (turbo) in a local highway (I had to use the brakes no more than 3 hard times) 5 minutes after that ¡The brake pedal went all the way down! I had to pum it several times and stop with the aid of the automatic transmission shifting down.

I drove this way (pumping & shifting down)to a local shop and after we checked lines an calipers without seeing any leaks (The brake fluid was almost full) we saw a little fluid drop below the master cilinder. They did not do anything because they tell me I need to get a new one and I need to get it from The USA. The strange thing was that after those 30 minutes every thing went back to normal.
1.- Is there any master cilinder repair kit? (where?)
2.- why everything went normal after 30 minutes doing nothing?
3.- My 94 LT1 only has 33k on it. It is normal for the master cilinder to fail so soon?

I will apreciate any help.

George

You can not always base your car's mechanicals on the mileage. Your car is still ten years old. The internals of the master cylinder contains parts that could develop cracks over time, resulting in leaks.

Try this website for the part that you need. I found that their prices are reasonable. chevypartstore.com

Bgblock69,

Thanks for the advice I think you are right, the age can do some damage too. I am going to take a good look at the website right now.

See you

bil-loc, Since the problem went away after 30 minutes, I'd say you overheated your brake fluid. It may be dirty. I'd suck out the reservoir with a syringe, put in new brake fluid, and bleed all the calipers until you get cleaner looking fluid, or at least 3 ounces of old fluid out of each one. JZ
