I have '68 replace brake system with a kit from Vette Brakes. I repalced the MC with a unit from the local parts store.

Now the brake pedal requires a lot of force. The car stops but pedel force is not comfortable. By the way the brakes are a manual style.

Any ideas?

If the pedal effort was satisfactory before and you replaced the master and now it's too high, you probably got a master cylinder for a power brake system.

Measure the piston bore size of the old cylinder and that of the new one. I'll bet they are different. If they are, take the new unit back and ask for a cylinder for a car with no power brakes.
