Anyone know how hot the front rotors get on a street driven C4?. A buddy wants to paint the hub and the back of his rotors with 500F high heat paint but is not sure if this paint will hold up. Has anyone done this, if so what brand of paint and temp was used?. The paint lists brake components as a use, and has a rotor on the label.

Don't know about the Vette brakes but I have a '23 T-Bucket that I installed intermediate size GM front disc brakes 6 years ago and painted them with regular polyurathane and paint is holding up well. The car stops easily due to its light weight and in spite of the built 4-bolt 350 is not driven hard to the point where hard braking is necessary so the rotors don't see a lot of heat.

My '36 GMC with an early 327 Corvette engine with tri-power has rotors and calipers painted with Chev orange engine enamel and shows no signs of flaking or discoloration. The rotors are larger AMC Pacer but probably see more heat than the T-Bucket because the truck is much heavier.

I would think 500 F paint would be sufficient. Surface condition and cleanliness would be a big factor also. If your friend's paint indicates it can be used for brake components including rotors, I'd say that's about as good as it gets.
