brake rotors

How large of rotors can you stuff into stock C5 rims? Would it be different for the different styles?

Stock is 12.8 inches.
I have seen 13 in the front without changing other things.

They do aftermarket braking system for c5, they may be able to help further.

I may be totally wrong here, but wouldn't the calipers also determine the size of the rotors? I say this since the originator of this thread appears to have a C3.

You are correct. I own a C3. 1970. I am considering running C5 rims on my car and would like to use C5 style brakes as well.

OK. Well, then, it seems to me that if you use stock (C5) brakes with stock (C5) wheels, you should be OK as far as the brakes are concerned. I would imagine though that the stock wheels on your car were much narrower, and would wonder about tire clearance. Like when you turn?

With the caliper mounted on the car, and the wheel removed, measure from the center of the spindle, to a point on the inside of the caliper housing that bridges the rotor. That is the largest radius, that will fit regardless of the wheel size. Unless you have changed the front spindle assembly, the mounting point of the caliper assembly will determine the largest rotor size. Don't forget, the rotor needs about a 1/8 - 1/4 inch of clearance from the caliper housing.
