Well, she should be here in a few weeks they are telling me. Is there anything in the C-6 manual as to a break-in period or rpm range. I would be red-lineing out of the dealer or anything. But, I have heard mixed opinions on other motors as to baby them, or ride it like you are going to ride it. Any thoughts? Thanks

Hi there,
Vary rpms and engine loads at all times during the first 1000 miles.
That is the biggest thing.
Other than that, follow your oil life monitor and enjoy your car. Your owners manual will tell you everything you need to know about maintenance.

Congrats on the new C6. I am sure the two of you will be very happy together.

Enjoy the new ride :D . Last night I traded my 2002 black/oak 6 speed for a 2005 silver/black 6 speed. Drove it a little around the lot and it sounds pretty good with the stock exhaust. Can't wait to "break it in." They actually had it discounted, plus I got a $500 incentive/rebate for something or other (can't remember what it was). Cool beans.

Are you going to upgrade the exhuast or do any other enhancements?

You are talkin to the worst person when it comes to upgrades, my answer to my wife is NO why would you change a great car like this?? then you do your best sales job, and it actully hits the driveway, then proceed to change everything (within reason) that you can. Yeah, I like to modify things, GM really put a great car together in the C6, IMO, this is the first "brand new" vette I ever bought, sure worked on em before this, It's such a great car, IMO just needs some slight tweeks, I want 450/475 HP without the ZO6 price tag. Taking nothing away from the ZO6, I know there is more to it than the HP, but I want to have fun tweeking my LS2, would love the ZO6 just was not for me (and the mrs. In the cards) need the top down in huricane central Florida.

IMHO, an excellent color choice! I've always like a "tan" interior with a red or black exterior. My 02 was black/oak. I took a museum delivery on my 02, and we drove back to Wisconsin in 1 day. Not sure that was the smartest thing to do for break-in. Shoulda varied the speed and RPMs more I think. But you'd never know it from the great gas mileage or it's reliability. Enjoy the new ride!

I have a MN6, the manual says:"Don't go above 55MPH for the 1st 500 miles'.
The manual says nothing about RPM range, which,IMO, is more important than MPH.

Anyway, I used comman sense, I didn't go above 4K RPMs, did not care about MPH. I mildly upshifted, downshifted, varied the RPMs and gears.

Use your comman sense, you'll be OK.
