The other day I'm tooling down the road in my 94 LT1 coupe when I come up on a cop with radar, so being the nice guy that I am, I switch on my lights to begin flashing the oncoming cars to slow down, well I start clicking my blinker/headlight lever and low and behold it breaks, when I pulled it toward me to flash my brights it stuck in the "Pulled" position., You know usually when you pull it to you it springs back and so on and so on, any suggestions on how to fix this?
Now my headlights are stuck in the "Bright" mode. So I am totally Pis..ng off the people in front of me and coming toward me.
thanks

Sorry to hear that, being the nice guy and all that you were by trying to help. Some days... :eyerole

I have never worked on the stalk, and I know you're not going to want to hear this, but I'm told it's a PITA to work on. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that happen...I appreciate it when someone ahead tells me there is radar blasiting away ahead of me.....looks like your gonna have to pull the guts out of the column and see what happened....#12 is the turn/light switch....#21 is the actual HDL switch but it goes in the back of #12.....good luck with it...!!

Oh yea....Merry Christmas....:w

94-96 TURN SIGNAL / CRUISE LEVER-(AT COLUMN)

Quantity in Basket: none
Code: 670450

Just about the price of an "Interfering" ticket. ;LOL <jk>

Its not that bad of a job, you could do it in an afternoon. Borrow the puller at autozone.

Same thing happened on my '93.

It's the switch and that means you or your mechanic will have to pull the steering column for the install. The switch doesn't cost much, it's the labor (if you go mechanic route) that could run a hole in your pockets-disabling the air bag, the re-install and checking for codes.

Good luck.

The disappointing thing about the switch? It's plastic!!!! That's why it eventually gives. Just like the antenna cable. :( umph. umph, umph.

I have another question, in addition to the blinker/cruise control lever, is there a piece of plastic behind all that stuff hiding all the wiring etc.....my is missing, and I don't have a clue as to what that piece is or how to go about getting it? Could someone please give me some advise on this, I figured While I'm replacing the blinker/cruise control lever I might as well fix it all.
thanks

Mine is a little tough to turn on high beams.

The 94Column jpg, good for the 93 also?

If I ever have to do this job, just remove fuse for the air bag?

Thanks in advance!:v

If your's is like all of the other GM products the brights lever is connected to the switch with a metal rod that goes from the lever to the switch which is under the dash attached to the steering column. I am guessing that you might have a litle play in your steering column and the rod popped out of the switch. Look under the dash on the left hand side of the column and look for the switch.

Jon,
I think it's part number 71 in the picture, it's the piece that goes behind the Blinker.
thanks

:( :( The Curse of the Cops again........It happens alll the time........Just when you think you are doing the right thing.....things fall apart.......

I had the same problem when I purchased my 85 a few years ago. There was this little plastic thing in the top of the column that I had to replace, about $35 if I remember, and about an hour an a half to actually do the work.
You can remove the access panel and reach up there to the accuator rod where it is inserted into the actual switch and toggle them on "low" beam, then just take it easy out on the highway until you get the part. (The Chevy dealer didn't have it, I had to order it from someone out in indiana somplace.)

Ok, I'm gonna bite the bullet, what all is involved in pulling the steering wheel? I'd like to do it myself, or should I take it to a shop?
and what about the air bag ?
Thanks
