C1 "I feel stupid" or "Can't reinstall my gas tank"

I am having trouble reinstalling the gas tank into my 61. Even with the AIM I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. It looks like it should be very easy. I vagely remember removing the fiberglass cover then the straps and then removing the tank, that was a couple of years ago. But now it seems like the tank is too big. :crazy Anyone ever have a similar problem? Thanks for any help

Do you have the filler section attached to the tank? If I remember correctly I installed the tank insuring the fuel outlet went through the hole in the body right side. I believe you have to pivot the tank a little to get it to set correctly. The next thing I did was to attach the filler neck and then tighten down the straps. You will have to play with it a little but I am sure you will figure it out. Check the lid screws holes, mine tank was never out and some of the holes were enlarged.

Thanks Ray, I got it. I installed new pads under the tank and I think they were making things a little sticky and not letting the tank slide down into position. It just needed a little "persuasion" with a block of wood and a hammer. Getting the tank straps on is going to be tricky too I think.
