Ready to install my freshly rechromed front bumpers and grille bar on my 61 and wondering if anyone has recommendations or suggestions. I have all my bumper brackets installed but they don't line up too exact so I guess I will have to take care of that first. The bolt that attaches to the front of the bumper looks like it is very difficult to access. All the threads on the weld nuts are good (free of heavy chrome) as are the grille bar attaching studs on the bumpers.
Thanks,
Gary

My are not mounted yet But I did have to make some mounts and had them on and off a cople of times.

First I used LOW stick tape on the car as a base. I then placed duct tape over the low stick tape to avoid scratchs. DONT use duct tape on your paint,

I losely conected the front bracket and walked it into place,I then used paint sticks and plastic body filler speaders to adjust the height of the bumpers. then tightened them into place.

GO SLOW!! Nothing is worse then scrathing new paint, Well actuall one thing is and thats you beating yourself up for the slip.

Good Luck I hope some one besides me can give you some more information.

Get a buddy or two to help. Don't try to fit and bolt on your own or there's a good chance of something slipping and scratching your paint or chrome. It will make the job a lot easier and you'll have good company too.

Good luck, can't wait to see it.

(PS: BTW. Can't PM you because your box is full)

Larry & Z28 Thanks for the tips. Sometimes even the obvious can get overlooked. Z28 I cleaned out my mailbox... I thought I did this before but I guess it didn't take. Thanks.

leave every thing a little loose till every thing is bolted togeather .It will be easier to get bolts started then line things up and tighten away Steve

Make sure you tape off the body and the edge of the bumpers before fitting them, keeps the scratching down

Thanks everyone for the helpful tips. I see a recurring theme here. Protect your paint, get a helper and get everything bolted up loosely before cranking anything down.
