This weekend my wife's sister dropped off her 3 kids for us to watch for the weekend ages 4, 6, & 7. The 7 year old asked several times if he could "screw something on to the Corvette", you can imagine the visions flashing through my mind. :)
He is too smart to accept a bogus "busy" project so I had to find something legit. I realized that I had never reinstalled the dust covers on the 2X4 WCFB carbs. I covered the fender and exhaust manifold area, lifted him on to it and let him loose with the only caution being don't drop any screws down the carbs! I handed him the parts as he needed, with no other instructions. He correctly set the gasket then the cover and then inserted and tightened the screws. He repeated the process for the second carb. I was really amazed. He is really into the car now and wants a ride to school in the fall. Another Corvette Enthusiast is born, wait till his Mom finds out. :)

My kids are now Ho Hum with the car, they never ask to help but are always around the driveway to lend a hand when needed. I do have a neighbor hood kid about 12 or 13 who stops by at least 3 times a day on saturday and sunday. He asks alot of questions. but is afraid to come close to the car.I explain he wont hurt anything but I think he may have been warned by his Dad not to get close.Listen I grew up next to a bunch of hot rodders and used to watch them all the time

Very, very cool story. And another Vettehead is in the making (with no apologies to ripping off the name from the deadheads out there).

Sounds like you found yourself an assistant for quite a few years and he'll be looking forward to "Babysitting" by Uncle Gary anytime. You've planted the seed so now watch it grow! Another vetter has been created!;) :D Sounds like you enjoyed it as much as he did ....fantastic.

Yup it's nice to have help. It's a great way to pass the torch to a new generation and keep the "Ricers" at bay.

I'm going to lend my 57 to my daughter for her wedding in September, I just hope the Son-in-law to be gives it back after the drive from the Church.

That would be a nice drive , but, it aint going to happen. I drove the car to Orlando in 2000. What a road trip.
