Anyone have one of the Flaming River tilt steering columns on a midyear? I am seriously considering it, as I have difficulty getting out of the car with the wheel being so low.

Is it a turn key solution, or will I have to weld brackets, ect...?

The reason for my question is that Corvette Central sells these and notes that you have to cut off the brackets from the original column and weld on and/or fabricate brackets for the FR column.

Also, how difficult was the install?

I haven't installed one, but you WILL have to cut the mounting/capsule bracket off a '67 column and weld it to the FR column; the '63-'66 column mounting was very simple, but the '67 column and its mounting was more complex in order to accommodate the energy-absorbing feature.

You could avoid the cutting/welding by using the pedal support assembly from a '65 or '66, with the simple U-bolt column mounting arrangement; it's a bolt-in swap. Photo below of the '67 column.
