All, I know you have seen cars much nicer than this, but I recently finished re-painting the car. Before paint, it got new carpet, dash restored by D&M, seats recovered, heads done with hardened valve seats and SS valves, new clutch, new SS exhaust, and mostly new chrome...ran out of money and the bumpers and grill will have to wait.

The car was my grandfathers, it was originally silver, but grandad wanted it black so it stayed black.

Thanks to all that replied to my rookie questions, and for those who contribute so much helpful info on this site. In particular 67heaven has been instrumental in what I was able to achieve.

More pictures to come if interested.

Looks sharp. Good for you to keep your grandfathers wish for black. What a prize it is! Your work is well worth it as it is looking real sweet. Also really like the 2002, fun to drive.(Mine is silver with a T roof). Curious on your opinion on the differences you find in the handling of one verses the other. You've got the best of both worlds there. Take care. Cheers:beer

pictures look great! What wheels are you going to put on it? What is your powertrain combo? I just finished paint myself, I know how good it feels to get that out of the way!

Sounds great, keep them coming!!;)

I am not sure what the wheels are, but the ones on the car will stay on the car, I have the factory wheels and hubcaps, but again, this is the way grandad liked it.

The powertrain is a 327/300 4-speed, not sure what the ratio is in the rear but it took the blue speedo gear. I confirmed it has posi on several occasions!:D

z28canuck, I am assuming you are asking me to compare the 2002 camaro and 64 vette in terms of handling, the Z06 outhandles anything I will probably ever own.

While the shocks and springs on the 64 seemed ok, I have not yet taken any corners at speed, mostly as I am not used to driving cars with no power steering, and the 4 wheel drum brakes make me nervous! The 2002 Z28 I think handles terrific for a solid axle car, I have done to Solo II events and driven it well past it's limits, and defenitely crushed my share of safety cones!

The 64 will likely not see usage like that.

Yes, I was referring to the 64. I have never had the pleasure of driving in one so I was just curious. Obviously there is 37 years of wear, technology changes, power brakes & steering, etc. there too but I could count my vette rides on one hand so I have nothing to compare to. I wouldn't even ask to compare it to the Z06;) . Thanks for replying so quickly though, I appreciate your time and your opinion. Sounds like you really enjoy your cars. Again the 64 looks sharp, nice job. Cheers:beer

That's a sweet looking black paintjob. I "almost" went black with mine. ;)

I'll have another look later.

What He Said.........

That's what I was refering to with my earlier "no pictures" post, the same message so I haven't seen any yet but would like to.

Let's try this, I know as much about posting pictures as I do about women!

That car is looking very good. I can't wait to see it completed.

Don't you just love all these old cars coming back.

Pity the poor suckers driving their wife's chosen form of transportation...with screaming kids in the back....making a pit stop at the grocery store..... :L

Sweet!!!

Now don't Ya just Love Grandpa?;)

Nice!!!

Beautiful!!!!! I love the Black! My 65 is black as well, but your paint looks prettier than mine. (I see mine up close so I know yours is nicer!) God bless Grandpa! :D :cool

Black always looks great!
my neighbor has a '67 BB that is black and it looks incredible! His paint job is 18yo but it was so well cared for that it looks as perfect as can be - it has such a gloss to it and such a "wet" look that you would think it just rolled out of the paint booth 5 minutes ago. Plus, you don't really see many black C2's at all - at least not around here.

Very nice. Can't waite to see it together.

Tom
