I am considering installing a LS1 or LS2 and manual trans into a 1963.

1.What motor mounts ?
2.What trans mount ?
3.Does the the trans crossmember need to be modified ?
4.Can I use the stock hood ?

I have more questions, but will start here. Thanks in advance. oWEN

This swap is a pretty straight forward deal. There are some motor mount adapter plates out there, that allow stock GM motor mounts to be bolted to the LS motor, and allow it to be bolted to the stock locations. I believe that you will find the stock trans mounts will line up as well, depending on which trans you use. This engine setup is fast becoming the hot ticket for drivetrain conversions, and GM actually makes a bare-bones harness and PCM designed exactly this type of swap. They even publish a manual that kind of walks you through the process! This engine is a great peice of engineering, it will run like a bigblock and get fuel economy like a 6 cylinder! Oh, and by the way, hood clearance will not be a problem. Try Street& Performance on the motor mount adapter plates, they are a little pricey, but they know this stuff inside out.
