When you're going straight & you pull the wheel 1/4 turn to either side does the wheel snap back to center or do you have to "help it?"

When going into a turn, how much of an assist does your power steering provide to help the steering wheel return to center?

I replaced all power steering accessories (valve, pump and cylinder), adjusted the valve but I don't think I'm getting the assist that I should have:Steer

Hi Bob,
I know you answered that before for me. Thanks.
I realized that I Hadn't adjusted the valve properly. I had 2 sets of instructions and the one in the box didn't fully explain what to do. The FAQ that you pointed me to, had "better" instructions. After I adjusted the valve, it's much better (it was no good at all before) but I still think I should be getting more boost. I figured that I shouldn't need to adjust the steering box since I didn't have that apart Regards

I don't know if the two have any relationship when it comes to centering when properly adjusted. As I recall, you adjust the PS valve to neutral so at that there is no power assist at center. Then you adjust the box. I had to adjust both of mine when I replaced the valve even though I didn't touch the box. Of course I had the whole front end rebuilt so that may have had something to do with it.
