There is a metal tag attached to one of the seats in my 75 Stingray with a bunch of numbers on it. Does anyone know how I can figure out what it means?

can you post a picture or tell us what the numbers are? Most tags I've seen were the suppliers ID codes (part number) and possibly the assembly dates of the seats.

Interesting stuff, but doesn't really tell much about the history of the car. The tank sticker is the real piece of info you want.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. The numbers on the tag are LS1M 44984 3314 342210 on a 75 Stringray.

OK Vettehead -heres another question. I have tried and tried to find the engine number where the manual says it should be but I don't see anything. Without pulling the engine out, where can I find the engine number to find out what engine is in my 75?

Engine numbers

There should be a stamped serial number on the drivers side rear of the engine block, it is a machined surface with the numers stamped into it. Also a casting number on the top rear of the block where the bell housing bolts to the block. Hope this helps some.
