All-

Well, a year ago I sold my C3 and moved into a C5. For the last year, having the C5 has made sense because I need a daily driver with the features offered by a C5 (namely, luggage space!!).
However, as I look on the horizon... I can see things will be changing. Having the C5 has been a lot of fun and very pratical- but C3s are where my heart has always been. It looks like I may be entering a chapter in my life where the "project car" will make sense again.
So, I will start looking for another C3 somewhere between 5-6 months from now for purchase. I'll be looking for an 80/81 with good paint and a good interior. Matching numbers isn't importatant- I'm looking for something well maintained rather than original. Honestly, I am going to modify the **** out of it in terms of fuel delivery, so the originality isn't a big deal.
I looked at CFI vettes, but after much research into the SY1 manifold as a CFI replacement, I have decided against it.
Now, I have walked into a deal for a custom TPI based system using an LT1 manifold. I paid $130 for the manifold complete (yes- injectors, fuel rails, regulator, throttle body, etc). I still have so many C3 parts in boxes that it wouldn't make sense to give up on another C3. I have learned so many lessons from my first C3 that I really know what it is and what I want to do.
I think it may prove to difficult to separate out the TBI system components of the harness to make it worth while to use an 82. Maybe I am wrong.
Any thoughts on using an 80 versus an 81 or 82?

80 was the last year b4 the computer controls(Except calif.)...not that you cant get around them in the 81 b/cfrom what i've read in the forums there are quite a few 81's w/o there computersso I guess it comes down to what you really want to play with as far as engines go as the 80,81,and 82 are all the same bodys

I feel the same way......love the C-3 's......:upthumbs
