If anyone would like to see how me & spiderman recovered my seats on my C3 check out this link.

Hey does Spidey work for free? It's always nice to have a super-hero around when it's time to do the hog rings.:L

Nice job.

nice job

How did ya like pulling those hooks through the foam? I butched my seat foam a little bit doing it...got any tips to share? I still have my drivers seat to do...

Pulling the hooks absolutely sucks, but I also tore my foam a little when doing my seats but with no adverse affects when they were all done. Long needle nose vise grips seemed to work best to keep hold of the clips

nice job spiderman. My seats are next on the list. How long did it take you to do the start to finish?

I had 10 hours in completly tearing down the seats to the bare frame, sanding and painting the frame. But mine were C4 sport seats, a good many more parts than the C3 frames. Then I had another 15 hours from clipping my first hog ring until both seats were back in the car bolted down. Do one seat at a time so you have a reference while you work.

Good luck.

Would you also believe that I once saw used seat foam being auctioned off on eBay? and people were actually bidding...

My leather covers are in very good condition (original '78), would it pay just to replace the foam and some hardware?

If they sag or are very soft, new foam will help. I'm just not sure how pliable the leather will be after 20-25 years if it is the original. Stretching the leather over new foam takes lots of pulling on the cover to get it situated so it looks right. As long as you are careful, and your covers aren't dry rotted to the point they are weak, you should be ok.

Thats what I did...I paid $112 for the seat foam at tld-corvette and I think $26 for the install kit (hog rings, etc) and got hog ring pliers for $8 at corvette central...real cheaply made, but do the job.

eBay..why not!

I have my old beat up seat and foam just sitting in a box waiting for me to put them up on ebay. Why not??? There's always someone that will want them for something!
Some person is bidding on my rear bumper. Why? To clean it up and hang it on his bar wall! Like you see in the restaurants or something.
:bar
Used seats that I put up for $1 opening bid will surely get someone to bid on them. Maybe it'll make good bar stool seat cushions. There's all kinds of reasons people would want them, oen of which may be to put them in a vette where their seats were ruined beyond repair.

Hey, I could care less! It costs me about $3 to list it on ebay. Anything over $3 is profit, and I can guarantee (almost) that the seats will sell for much more than $3!
