After driving for 30 miles I notice a squeaking sound from the rear end when I go at a slow speed, 10 mph. When the car has cooled or set for say an hour or so the squeaking does not sound only after a highway drive. Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on or what I need to do to diagnose the problem?

6/19/2011 I found the culprit. It turned out that the rear rotors had never been off the car. The drivers side parking brake spring had broken. The shoe was rubbing inside the parking drum of the drivers rotor. Solution was a replacement of both parking brake shoes, new parking brake springs and new rotors with pads for both sides.

I have found in the past, A high pitch squeaking noise similar to what your describing, it was U joints that were OEM and could not be serviced, one end of the joint was dry, and had started to disintegrate the needle bearings, upon replacing these the problem was fixed.

If you put your car up to where you can be close enough to put your ear in the area of any U joints and rotate them you will hear a slight squeal, of course yours is when warm so that is when you will need to check it.

Hope this helps.
