I started re-upholstering the interior from my 1986 Vette in March
but only had time to upload some pics this weekend.

I am a bit further than in the pictures but maybe I will upload them this weekend.

enjoy yourself watching a Rat makeover,

I remember those days...at least you have some competent help, he has his priority's stright...he brought something to drink.

He = She ;)

my daughter is very fond of the Vette, "daddy car" were here first words

now she can say Corvette ( read Cortett ) but hey, at least she has good taste :L

Yep that should be Black/Graphite.

my Vette was from California and was already heavily touched by the sun when I bought it.

but now after few years of :D miles I wanted to get it in touch again.

also the weatherstrips are going to be replaced, I will post some pics when I get further in stage.

My apology's to your little girl...But as long as she has her daddy, I doubt my mistake will phase her even a little bit. :upthumbs ...She may have trouble saying Corvette right now...but someday she will pronounce "keys" with absolute clarity. with puppy dog eyes...Daddys are ol softies.

OH YEAH ! :upthumbs

I do not mind giving her the keys of my 1986 in 16 years.

I should be driving a C7 or C8 by that time :D

few updates ,

I did not had much time this summer to work fast and git-r-done :D
So I will finish it this season and start driving again next year.

My daughter was helping me out again, handing me the tools, beer and wiping off my sweaty forehead :)
all this to get place behind the steering wheel

I enjoyed looking at the pictures on your web page. Nice job rebuilding the seats! Did you replace the lumbar bladders, pumps and switches? I have replaced them on my driver's side seat and plan to replace the other side soon. The lumbar parts are expensive.

Did you replace the air pump on the engine with the idler pulley visable in the pictures?

Good luck with your project!

Great Job!
My 86 could use new carpeting and although my seats aren't quite as torn up by the sun (NY vette) they definately need to be redone.
Was it a real bear to stretch the coverings on? I heard it was very difficult.

Oh yeah, the weather stripping how difficult? did you buy the tools to
do it? and last but not least, I heard that some of the kits do not fit all that
well, how is yours and who is the manufacturer?
Thanks,
Tom R

thanks, I only had to replace the bolster motors , they were jammed, the bladders were both in perfect shape, so I just put them right back.

the air pump was done immediately when I bought the car 6 years ago,so I cannot tell if there really is a difference in torque.

Thanks ,

The seats are a pain to upholster but as long as you take the pro model hog rings and pliers together with new foam and a pocket full of dimes for the swearjar ;) you be ok !

Thanks , weatherstrips is a piece of cake just the removing of the remaining glue is a hard job.

I bought mine at Willcox IN. The label on the rear compartment weatherstrip said Corvette America and the others were just labelled with a carton tag so I do not know a brand.

good luck,
