i have a 90 vette with a headlight problem. when the lights are in the up position, the right headlight sags a bit and wiggles up and down. does any one have any ideas as to the problem? thanks, steve

EDIT: there is currently a similar thread regarding a C5 so I'm editing the thread titles to eliminate any confusion and hopefully prevent an issue from being overlooked. - Jane Ann

Sorry I can't help with your issue racerone but I can help you get your thread in front of the right crowd. I'm guessing you posted it in the C5 forum by mistake (happens to all of us on ocassion) so I moving it to the C4 forums.

Good luck with a quick fix!

On my '90 the slot that the pin fits in the lift linkage is worn so there is same movement as yours,
Still working on a solution

Vetteoz may have the solution but I had a similar problem with my 88 and it turned out to be the infamous Delran (?) plastic bushings. Do a search and you'll probably find a hundred threads. They turn to dust with age. They are a pain to replace but I've had no problems since then. If this turns out to be your problem, a word of caution. I've seen some people charge $20 for these on eBay. I think I got mine for a couple of dollars from Mid-America but that's been probably 7-8 years ago.

Good luck.

When these bushings started to go on my 1989, I could hear the passenger motor running after the headlight housing hit the stop points. Like Ron said, pain to replace, but it restored the headlight mechanism to like new condition. Motor gear gaskets are available as well by searching the internet. You can check out headlight operation by turning the manual override knob.
