Hi

l'm in the market for a late model C4, at least a 94 because of the upgrades, and feel the 95 is the best choice because they received the bigger fade resistant brakes. l'm looking for an Automatic because of the wife.

The question is, am l missing something by reading to much. l've owned three vette's, 64,68 and 76 manual's and l was still happy.

Also, where is the best place to look for an used vette. l check e-bay, the local classified's (150 mile radius).

Thanks

Alan

P.S. Most of the vettes for sale either have high mileage, or the owner thinks he has gold.

Vettes are gold ;)

looks like your checking the right places, altohu be wary of ebay, some people are not as honest as we'd like them to be........also you might wanna get in touch with Rick Daniels, he's a member of CACC and also a dealer, he might help you out.

P.S dont leave out 96 lt4 out, test drive one and you'll see what i mean

Hi
l do not think the lt4 came with an auto tranny and my favorite color is comp yellow, then torch red.

I can't help you with an actual physical location in which to shop for your next Corvette, but I can recommend a few good books to have with you when you do go shopping.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of each of Michael Antonick's books;
The Black Book...

... and the Corvette Buyer's Guide.

Go to a good search engine like askjeeves.com and just write your request in plain english. You will get plenty of sites to check used 94-95's. Good hunting.:)

In November I purchased a 1990 roadster using www.cars.com

It allows you to set how far you are willing to look and lists them by purchase price. I found what I wanted in Sacramento and flew down there and drove it back about 900 miles.

Mine has 47,000 miles and is a nice dry originally Arizona car. Original paint, original exhaust and came with the removeable hardtop. Always garaged and covered and priced at what I wanted to pay.

What a person will do for a vette! Good luck!

There is a place in Mesa Arizona called CNV corvettes. Website is
CNVcorvettes.com, they have usally over 80 vettes at one time.

Give This Place A Call

Since you are in NJ, I would recommend that you contact Turner Automotive in Victor, NY http://www.turnerautomotive.com/. They are near Rochester.

The website isn't updated as often as their inventory turns so I would give them a call even if you don't see what you are looking for. They often have low mile C4's and C5's. I purchased my '94 from them last year with 6,600 miles. If they don't have what you are looking for, they may be able to find it for you. My experience with them was outstanding.

Good Luck,

Jeff

Another Source...

Another option for you may be Hemming's Motor News. They actually have their listings on-line so that you don't have to purchase a subscription to the publication.

You may want to check it out. Good luck in your search. :)

yellow vettes pull a premium because of their rare and desirable status.... you will probably be able to find a red one much easier, and for a better deal... autos are usually cheaper as well (about $1000 less than manual)... I have found the best places to look are almost always local... Try your local sports car trader if you have one in your area, that is the best by me. good luck.

What year did they put the distributor under the water pump. I was told to stay away from those . Higher than usual cost on repairs in that area. Now I know I'm stepp'in on some toes , But I like my distributor on top so I purchased an 86 C4 conv. The best place to buy vettes to me is from an individual. I've own a 54,56, two 63's, 69, 71, 81, 86. Car lots give me the hebie gebees.

www.Autotrader.com

You can search by area of the country and will get a good # of hits.

I went thru the same thing for 3 years looking.
Piece of crap or, like you said, it's weight in gold :r

I actually gave up when I found mine this past fall so you never know :Twist

With ebay I would just check the local cars so you can drive them first.
Autotrader also shows what is on ebay locally !

One good example that happened to me about ebay:
I had looked at a car one summer. One of those deals of a mint car in perfect shape. To keep it short- the transmission was stuck in O.D. and when we got back I smelled something burning. Turned out to be the rear end fluid dripping on the pipes. Ect.....

Needless to say I didn't buy it.
In the spring I found the car listed on ebay. Same speech about how great it was. I emailed the guy and told him I had driven the car. I asked if he had fixed the problems I found. No reply (suprise).

He had a WAY too high reserve and it didn't come close. But someone just buying it sight unseen based on his description would have been royally screwed.

So if you go the ebay route be sure you can go and see it first !

Good luck

ALAN, YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK COLLECTOR CAR TRADER.COM. VERY GOOD SITE FOR VETTES. ANOTHER PLACE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REAL LOW MILEAGE SUPER CLEAN CAR IS UNIQUE CORVETTES IN LONG ISLAND BIG $$$$ THERE..I THINK ITS SETAUKET. IM FROM NJ ALSO AND THERE IS A PLACE NEAR ME IN MARLBORO NJ CALLED ONYX AUTO ON RT9 SOUTH. THEY CARRY ALL KINDS OF MUSCLE CARS/HIGH END AND VETTES TOO. THEY USUALLY HAVE AT LEAST 6-10 C4'S RANGING IN FROM EXCELLENT CONDITION TO RATTY. IF YOU WANT SOME MORE INFO LET ME KNOW!!! GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH!

Just so happens....

...my '96 is for sale!
I have a black on torch red LT1 automatic 1996 coupe for sale. What is the price range you are looking at? My car is a little high on the mileage, at 83384, but it is my daily driver. I have an extended warranty which covers driveline until just shy of 100,000 miles (which I used immediatly after purchase to replace the water pump and opti-spark unit ;)) currently the warranty is
valued at $800.
I wouldn't call the car show room condition, but it is in really great shape. This past summer I replaced the door and halo seals, I have a new windshield seal still packaged, color matched footwell protectors, top slider, a set of Eckler's chrome door handles that have never been installed...etc. Fully loaded, Bose CD/Cassette, F45 selective ride control (first year for the F45, previously it was the FX3)...You name it, its got it! I need to sell ASAP to get into a C5. Long story, but the C5 will be gone on the 15th of this month. Let me know if you are interestd. I have many pictures I can send you. Just needs a few small things, and I will let it go for basically payoff! If not quite what your looking for, well I wish you good luck in finding that ideal dream! We've all been there (and I still dream!)

Mike

C4 for sale

Hi

I was watching the Miami/lowa game. The colors are perfect, but l'm looking for a vette with half the miles as a third car.

The C5 is a great choice, here in New Jersey the C5's are plentiful.

Thanks for thinking of me.
