Hello folks, hope everyone had a safe winter.... I guess i have had enough of smashing up my snowmobile, and think its time to get back to getting the C4 back into shape after this winter.

I am looking to replace my hardtop, the stock one is purty badly faded and looks like crapola, any suggestions?? Mid-America has them , but for $700, i thought i heard last summer they were going for around $450. thanks in advance.:v

Make sure you get a quality top and a quailty installer......their is very little adustment in the top......

Ok, define CRAPOLA. Can you maybe sand it down and repaint it? That'd be cheaper and more fun. Look at it as your first after-winter project. :w

Hey Slim:
You've got a 96 coupe-- right ?? Why not take it to a good paint shop, spend a couple hundred bucks, and have them repaint your top? Unless it's somehow been damaged, I'm not sure how it would need replacing instead of repair or reconditioning?

Maybe someone in the forum can reccommend a paint shop in southeast WA.

Regards--

Lot to be said about repainting a top. They look good from the outside...color shows up from the inside??? If it's transparent. I bought a used top here from someone last year....got a good deal. Shipping is high though...around $200 safely crated included. Good Luck!

Hey Great Idea folks! Hadn't thought of that one, is there any issues with painting these transparent acrylic roof tops??

"Crapola" is because it was neglected B4 I got it and had faded & / or the acrylic reacted and it looks quite dull and ugly. I got good results with a plastic polish and high speed buffer, but still less than acceptable "looks" .

I think i will check out a body shop about painting it, however, the down side is, No "sunroof" transparent ability :ugh

Thanks All!

ill say this-if you get a new top get the hardened glass type. as the acrylic scratches very easily.even lust washing the car.and then when your cruising down the road and look up thru your new top and see all the swirl and scrath marks it will bring you down , man.

Are there any corvette shops around? The shop near me has at least four tops. They were going for about $325-450. may want to explore that option as well. save on shipping charges.
