Hi All,
Does anyone out there have any suggestions on a good set of roll bars to fit a C4 convertible. My wife and would like to take up autocrossing and thought that we need to outfit our GS with one.
Thanks, tjhyatt

I stuck this in the C4 Mods forum in hopes of generating more response for you. I'll be looking for a roll bar manufacturer soon anyhow, but my need will be for my coupe. ;)

Jegs has roll bars from 4 point up to 12 point for C4's. Looking at the diagram it is clear it is for a coupe not the vert. I need a 4 point bar at least to run in March's Silver State Classic. This is the 90 mile flat our race on a public highway here in Nevada. I need a roll bar because of the class I want to enter. I am going to order the six point kit from Jegs. I have two plans of action. First is to lower the rear support bars low enough to fit under the deck cover. Second course will be to get a 'extra' rear deck and cut slots in it so the rear supports pass through this deck before mounting to the frame. The slots would allow the deck to still open to store any bags. I would then use pull rings and wire to pull and release the side latches as the center cable release would not work anymore. In either course of action I am going to remove the top from the car and store it. Not much rain here in Vegas anyway. I will use a seperate cover when parking the car away from the home garage.

Top, I was talking with someone at the dragstrip Sunday who was excited as could be about the Silver State Classic. I can see where they talk about the addiction and how it snatches you up. He said he is a lifetime member with a permanent race number, which of course I forget now. :o

I gotta try that sometime. :upthumbs

Ken, There is NO doubt in my mind I will be hooked for life. I am working towards the mods needed, roll bar, 5 point belts, helmets, stop watches, nomex, etc. Biggest part so far is convincing my fiance she is riding 'shotgun' to run the watches. I could run in a slower target speed class and not need the roll bar......but what fun would that be.

Are you guys finally going to autocross your car?? You'll love it!! Have you thought about a hardtop?? My hardtop really stiffens the car up and it has an internal bar much the same as the coupe. It's fairly easy to install and the ragtop just folds down. Let me know if you would like to see my hardtop as I have on the car now.

NHRA will even let roadsters likes ours run up to 11.99 with the factory hardtop installed.

A roll bar could also take up a chunk of what little space there is for storage in the back. I have been talking with vettedan (Dan H) about building a harness bar for me. I would like to use a 5-point harness for the Rose City track days at PIR, but there is only one company who currently makes a bar. Dan's bar looks great and he would like to do a bar for me.
