I just installed a need Hurst in my 2000 c5. When I remover the stock shifter, there was an L shaped alignment pin at the front of the stock shifter. The Hurst does not have a slot to reinstall this alignment pin. Everythings works fine now, but I was concerned about long term problems if the pin is not used. Also is it possible to get a new plastic bushing that goes around the knob at the base of the hurst shifter where it connects to the transmission linkage rod. I'm think mine has a hairline fracture. What is the gm parts number

I love the shifter, the 2/3 shift is impossible to miss!!!!

Hi there,
That pin is for the shifter adjustment, and should be retained for future use. You do not have to leave it in the shifter assembly, but you should hold on to it. When the shifter is in neutral, and all 3 bolts loose, you will drop the pin into the hole, and torque the 3 fasteners. This give you the adjustment 'neutral point'.
As for the collar, I will check on the part number today, and post this evening.

Carson, I have been thinking about getting the same shifter for my car. Is it easy to install? Does it come with instructions? I know it is a direct replacement for the factory shifter so installation shouldn't really be too much of a problem. Hope the shifter works out.

Thanks c4c5 specialist.

Randy,

Go for it!! you need the following tools. 10mm socket, 3/8" socket, T15 torx head screw driver, 3/16 " hex key wench, and a 9/16 " wrench. It also called for a small torque wrench which I did not have. The install was very straight forward. took about an hour.

GOOD lUCK!!

How do you find the noise. That was the biggest issue I had with the Hurst when I installed it, it transmitted a lot of noise from the transmission tunnel and really detracted from the car. I ended up taking the Hurst out of the car in favor of the stock unit.

I just installed the B&M ripper shifter myself. It was pretty straight forward. The fit and quality of this shifter are excellent! Took me about 1 hour and I am very pleased with the results. I topped it off with a billet Ichibahn knob with red leds…
