What do ya think?

Looks cool and seems like it should work. The only question that I have involves aerodynamics. The way the nose is shaped, that area is similar to the top surface of a wing. The pressure on the top surface of the wing is lower than ambient air pressure. Does that logic apply to the location of that scoop, and does it matter? I hope that someone with more aerodynamics knowledge chimes in here.

tape some strands of yarn in front of the opening and go for a fast ride. if the air is going into the opening the stands of yarn will be in there. also have someone drive along side at speed and look to see what the strands are doing

Dwayne,
Isn't this modifying a Corvette from the original factory specs? I thought your position on stuff like this was "rice."
:confused

I see. Thanks for the clarification, Dwayne. I'm just trying to a get a sense of where you draw the thin rice line.

So does this performance mod cancel out the gold "corvette" lettering on the front licence plate cover in terms of an overall rice quotient?
:confused

Rice . . .

Seriously - It's your Corvette, you paid for it, do what ya want.

Thank you- you answered my question.

Apparently, a performance mod does overcome a rice mod, because you're willing to give the Blue Vette in your pictures a "pass."

So, does the fact that I have K&N Air Filter and a Borla exhaust cancel out my tailight louvers?
:confused

:w
-Patrick

I see- so you're saying you think I should add a spoiler to my Z06? You don't think this would push me over the "rice" thresh hold? Or are you saying that I'd need to do another performance mod to offset the rice impact of adding a spoiler?
:confused

(I don't know how long I can keep this up- but it's got to be driving Dwayne nuts! :L )

I suggest you start a new thread with your issues.

This thread seems to have turned personal.

Sharon,
No, actually I don't believe it has turned personal. Since you have your PM feature turned off, I appear to have no choice but to respond here.

This is not "ricer politics." This is a long standing joke between myself and 6-Shooter.

If you have a question, fine. Ask it. As to the one you have asked...

I'm interested in what that mod does, not ricer politics.

...the purpose of the Ram Air modification would be the same as incorporating a Veraram or other aftermarket air induction system. It more brings air more efficiently into the engine, and as a result, engine performance is enhanced. It's one of the easiest and most cost effective mods one can do. If you are interested, we have numerous discussions on Air Intake modifications you can read.

I'm not clear what "issues" you are referring to, but as you quoted me in your post, I'm guessing that you think I have some sort of personal problem with 6-Shooter. Nothing could be further from the truth. I was merely bantering with him in a good natured way. These are, after all, forums where people can socialize. Look at the Quicksilver vs. Millenium Yellow thread, for example.

I had difficulty finding my way through the thread .. sincerely trying to understand and know more about it.

I like to kid around myself, but pictures of spoilers and rice a roni was muddying the waters.

It seemed to have gone awry and for no reason ricer-awareness issues were mucking things up.

Luckily there's more information at the other forum.

What about water getting into the system?

Where does that inlet lead to?

I dunno, without any aerodynamic tests, I wouldn't be too sure if I would do that or not. But if you choose to, you can use my grinder. :D

Patrick, you do have issues so don't deny it. Anyone who doesn't eat the crust of Chicago deep dish pizza has issues. :D

Indeed. There's plenty of information here, as well. I did a forum search using the words "air intake" and found twenty pages of threads. Here are five I found just from the C5 forums:
