Have a question about swapping the shift knob in a MN6 C5. I'd like to change the stock knob for a billet one, but all the instructions, including those in the Chevy manual, mention a button on top of the shifter. I don't have one on mine--am I missing something here, or is the shift knob simply a twist-off/twist-on thing? I'd rather not destroy :bang the stock knob if I don't have to. Appreciate any help.

I assume you have a 6-speed. This may sound like a stupid question, but are you sure you dont have a button? MIne has a plastic cap (or button) in the center that you (carefully) pry off to change the shifter. One of the Vette forums has detailed pics for changing it. Run a search and Im sure you can find it.
