***Updated*** C5 two tone

Has anyone seen a two tone C5? How does it look?

***UPDATE***

I added this photo-chop image just to see what it could look like. Not Bad....

Opinions?

The Guldstrand Vettes were two toned. Gold car with dark blue on the doors and hood. Didn't look bad, however the color combo on the Z16's look better imho.

I have been giving serious thought to painting my EB Z06 like a '96 Grand Sport, with black wheels, etc.

Mid America Corvettes had a partial shot of a red C5 with a white skunk stripe ala GS--I thought it looked awesome and thought for a long while about doing that to my Vette. I'm not sure how you'd really two tone a C5 as there is no clear character line on the body that divides the car like there was on the C3s. Would certainly be different! Andy

I agree with Andy.

Since I first saw this thread this afternoon, I've been trying to figure out how one would do a two-tone application to the C5. Even with BSM, the car just doesn't seem to lend itself to how you could do a two tone unless you did some sort of fade effect from one color to another. And I'm not sure how well that would work.

If anyone's done a two tone aftermarket paint job, and I mean something other than striping or a flame effect, I'd be interested to see the results.

Well, I was thinking of using the belt trim (AKA door ding molding) as a cue and run a smaller pinstripe right below to better fade them together, kinda like the old C3 two tones. The key to tie the colors together is the pinstripe. I was also looking at either metallic green or magnetic red as the other color, on top of the white. I did some color fades with paint shop. Mind you, I just adjusted the contrast to get a rough view. I will post them

For what it is worth, the Grand Sport just laid in the stripes. There was no body cove or similar detail to paint in a different color. Also, I have seen some C5 side coves painted as a tribute to the solid axle Corvettes. I thought that it looked pretty good.

I don't think that it would look right!:w
I know- It was a momentary thing. I mentioned it to my girlfriend, and she looked at me like I was nuts!

Jim,

I like the way your girlfriend thinks. Sounds like real sensible advise.
