C6 Aftermarket exhaust

Interesting exhaust thread but it's missing someone that HAS a Borla system on their C6.
In order to make up my mind on a system I'll wait to hear and read some feedback on the Borla.
I do know they are making 2 systems and they've been shipped to dealers.
A friend of mine is putting a Borla "S" system on his C6 next week. Can't wait to here what that sounds like.

I recently toured the Corsa factory and met with both JBrowning, Jr and Sr. while touring the factory they had a C6 on the rack that just had the touring system installed, which IMO was too mellow.
Even though my C6 is on order I have already ordered the Corsa Sport for it!

Install?

Thanks for the info. Who is going to install it and does GM still warranty the Sport?

Thanks!

My local Chevy dealer will install it and cover it under warranty where they installed it.

Did you listen to the sounds on the website for Corsa? Do they sound anything like the real thing? The cite is www.corsaperf.com Just wondering how close to real life they were.
Thanks!

I only heard the Corsa Touring system and IMHO it did not sound like the clip on the Corsa website, it was fairly mellow (similar to the stock exhaust) and a bit tinny sounding but it could have to do with the fact that I was in the Corsa factory when I heard it.....not sure I helped you much with my response :ugh

I guess sound is so subjective you just have to hear it yourself. I will contact my dealer soon.............

regarding Borla mufflers for the C6. WHY do they use a design that copies the C5 sideways mounted mufflers? This was one of the most serious flaws in the C5 in my opinion with all the 90 degree bends etc. The C6 straight through seems obviously much better. Is it because they are invested in tooling for the C5 conversion and don't want to do a special for the C6? It makes no sense to me to replace a superior muffler placement in the C6 with the OLD inferior design of the C5. So tell me Borla why the C5 muffler placement for the C6 ( and pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze don't insult our intelligence by telling us it's more efficient!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) The nutty muffler placement on the C5 was one major reason I did not buy one. btw does Borla offer retrofit smog pumps for the C6 for those who feel this is "better"?

Exhaust change

Has anyone actually changed the exhaust on their C6, done the work themselves? I see one of the suppliers say that you may need to cut the factory pipe to get them out (A4). They did hang up on the C5 but by breaking the transmission loose it could be done without cutting.

I stopped on my way to St Louis last weekend to get a set at Mid America Motorworks and they said that "Corsa was not done with their design yet", and that they had drop shipped some but they weren't Corsa. In other words they aren't stocking them and you can wait on the factory to ship them.

Thanks for all the input everybody! I have debated this issue for a while and even contacted Corsa themselves for their opinion. It seems that the Sport package is the way to go!

Now I just need to figure out if I wanna go with th 4" pair or the 3.5" doubles!

Decisions decisions . . .

You won't regret it. I purchased a touring package for the price of a sport. I installed the touring setup and ended up removing the Corsa H pipe and the small mufflers/resonators and reinstalling the factory H pipe.

Corsa sport

It has been 2 months since I ask about the Corsa mufflers and I've been busy and neglected to get back with an update. I got the sport at less than a grand and had them on that afternoon. One hitch, the female inlet on the mufflers were way oversized, about .08 larger than they needed to be. In order to get them to fit well enough to position them I had to first shrink them down while they were off the car. From that point the removal and installation of the system was a snap. Even at my age the swap took less than an hour, (I have a lift).

The sound is nowhere near what the C5 was, still more quiet than the Corsa Indy system I had on my C5s. The burble is gone but you get allot of snaps when you shift or let off the accelerator. At idle they are louder than the C5 system and less at wide open throttle, but still acceptable at speed.

They are some of the best bends and welding I've seen in a long time and it still makes me wonder why the inlets were so oversized. Personally I don't like the embossed name on the tips, the sound should tell people who made them. If these are the loud mufflers, forget about the touring package.

LPE puts Corsa Exhust on their C6 packages. Why do you think they like Borla?

Scrambler85....I just had my Corsa SPORT system installed by my Chevy dealer today. Sound is terrific to my old ears, and the 4 x 3.5" version is like jewelry...with embossed "Corsa" on the tips (was a pleasant surprise to me!).

I had a Z06 for 4 years....liked it's sound as-is.....had Corsa Touring on my '98 Targa. But, I liked the music from my '67 L36 big-block with side-pipes best of all (too bad this cannot be duplicated on current C5/C6).

I can recommend Corsa Sport...it's still your personal preference though....it's your ears!

Hi, I am new here and glad I found you folks. I just bought a 2005 Victory Red C6. We love it but I am curious if changing the exhaust voids the warranty?

Changing the exhaust does not void the warranty, according to 2 chevy dealers.
