I just got back from a very long tour of the Corvette Assembly Plant here in Bowling Green. I took the one hour public tour, and then Dwayne Fenton took me around on another tour.

All I can say is....WOW.

I loved the C6 when it first came out. Now that I've been surrounded by them for two hours, in every single model and color....and seen it from every single angle, both inside and out, I can honestly say, I lust after one.

As for the Z06....words cannot express. Walking behind them, you can truly appreciate the extra width, the wheel arches, the new wheels, etc. It may be my vision (I've been up since 4:30 am to catch a flight down here to Nashville), but the Z06 looks like it sits a little lower to the ground than a base model. I'm probably mistaken, as I wasn't able to view a Z06 next to a base model.

The C6 is an incredibly beautiful Corvette. The Z06 is even more so. They packed on just enough visual muscle in all the right spaces without overdoing it.

I also got to see the new Cadillac XLR-V. They just started building pre-production models on the line this week.

I've always admired the XLR, but the XLR-V has just enough extra visual tweeks to make it look even more beautiful than the base XLR. And....with 450 supercharged horsepower, how can you go wrong!?

After all is said and done, given a choice, I'd still go for the Z06. The Z06 looks totally awesome from every single angle.

One of the things I noticed while walking through the assembly plant is the size of the C6. The car almost looks like a Matchbox. The C5 looked big, the C6....visually looks much smaller. When you see a bunch of them in various stages of production, inline, one after the other, you can really appreciate the overall reduction in size of the car.

As I sit here typing this thread in the hotel room, a silver C6 just wound up and left a very....."healthy" patch out front.

Ahhhh, it's good to be back home in Corvette-land.

The B.G. plant is the best G.M. has to offer ,it is amazing. The employees appreciate you as a customer or potential customer.Last time i was there i was even invited by a number of employees to come to they'er homes for supper. Fantastic car built buy fantastic people.I share your excitement.I understand the rush. It will make you a vett fan for life.ENJOY. Steve

Rob, I totally agree with your assessment of the C6. I LOVE this car. I went to a local cruise-in last night and one of the regulars had his new silver/black/z51/DVDNav/MN6. Absolutely beautiful car. We talked for about 45 minutes on his trip up to NJ (Kerbeck) to pick up the car and the drive back. He let me sit in the car and just take in the interior and the comfort and feel. I find myself staring at these cars from every angle as I don't believe there is an angle of the car I don't like. I can't wait for the prices to drop so that I can start looking to replace me C4 vert with a C6/Z51/MN6/VR vert. :)

Haven't seen the new Z06 in person yet and personally can't wait to see this one. Rumor has it one is following the Hot Rod Power Tour and will be an hour from me tomorrow, but I will be at work wishing I was there checking out the black Z06. :( I will see one eventually and I'm pretty sure I will not be disappointed with what I see.
