If your car was built before vin 11039 make sure GM replaces the crank bolt. I lost my balancer last night at the track and did major damage. When I did the cam install I thought I had an updated car. I read 1039 instead of 11039. I never read the service bulletin as I thought it did not apply... but if I did I would have noticed there was no diamond washer in there. I torqued everything to spec and still lost a balancer. Bad things happen when you lose one of those at speed.

Have your car updated.

I have heard of others having this issue - thanks for the heads up!

GM won't do a pre-emptive fix. They wait until you are stranded!:eyerole

Yeah, I sold my C6 coupe to get out of this issue. Bought a c6 'vert.

Who payed for my loss? I did.
On my new 'vert...
Too many issues with the new C6's. I'm not impressed to date.
Car looks fine. Drives ok. But there is a number of outstanding issues.
1.Brakes squeal. TSB -now fixed pads changed to ceramic.
2."1st-gear problem. TSB -did it and it still has problems!!!
3.paint finish. bad clearcoatings.
4.some body fittings
5.dead battery issues. -causes lots of problems, this car is all about electronics.
6.radio, FM static. Now fixed by replacing NAV to standard radio.

Getting tired of all this very fast.

It sounds like your original Vette had every problem reported to date on the C6s. How did you get so unlucky? :confused

Well, they're NOT my problems anymore. I sold the car back to the dealership yesterday.

DONE. OUT.

Read my sig. Just the Z06c5 now.

I was NOT unlucky. Each car has these problems. It just takes time or the right person to notice and complain about them. I do caution everyone that each C6 has "soft-paint" damage. It seems C6's are very prone to swirl marks, scratches etc. The dealer reported alot of owners requesting their cars re-buffed. (This fix just covers up the problem ... it re-occurs). 2005 C6 was a very bad year for this car.

Thanks for the heads up. Very few tend to offer such insight.

Glad your enjoying your c5 Z06 for now...

Are you going for a third year c6 Z06? Just curious?

Not all cars, I have 8,000 miles on my 2005 and have had none of the problems you have had but I will grant you the paint is soft but it was on the C5 as well.

I currently own a 04 coupe and am considering an upgrade to a C6. It has been an agonizing decision because I abslolutely love my c5. In fact I got it because I did not like the new body style or interior as much as the c5. It's the performance that keeps drawing me back to the c6, but with all these problems I can assure you If I do make a move I will wait a year or 2 so GM has some time to work all this stuff out. These forums sure are helpful to learn from others experiences. thanks for the info johnm

C-5 vs C-6

i have a very early 2005 C-6 build vin 101359 and i owned 3 new C-5s before that,97,99 and a 02 and i would never go back. i have had no problems with mine and the precision red paint does not seem to scratch as easy as the torch red i had on the 3 C-5s. there is as much difference in driving feel between a C-6 and C-5 as there was between C-4 and a C-5. the C-6 steering and suspension is much better,no kick back on the bumps and no jumping sideways in the turns when you hit a bump. the headlights at night alone are worth the up grade.

I've decided to wait till 07's can be ordered because of the problems noted.I don't understand why so many engine problems when this is basicly the zo6 engine out of the c5's,with minor changes. Please don't blame the production workers they really care.
