Cam Cover Leak

I've posted this on some other sites - hope I don't offend anyone by doing so:

My passenger side Cam Cover developed an oil leak during my trip down to the NCM around one of the torque head bolts.

Do these things have seals around them? If so where can I get them and are there any concerns in changing them?

On the way to and fro the NCM I used 2 quarts of Mobil One. Not something I want to keep doing.

Cheers,
RH

Ron,
Unfortunately I can't help you out much. I've removed the plenum before but I haven't touched the cam covers. Hopefully somebody who has will chime in. I'd like to eventually remove mine to get painted.

you need a new washer under the cam cover bolt. these special washers have a little rubber o ring built in and seal up the leak.

they are $6 from GM.

Kurt White at whiteracingproducts.com should be able to get them cheaper.

make sure you correctly torque the bolt!!! get a good tool too, those suckers will ruin your day if you wob out a torx.

hope this helps. very common problem.

Ron,

Why would you offend anyone? If you have a question or problem with your Vette....ask away!! :)

I agree with Ron Kreigh. Check out http://www.whiteracingproducts.com

Thanks to all who replied!

I have someone sending some to Ohio for me. A friend will replace the problem child dowdy while I'm back in Korea.

Cheers,
RH
