Just got my carpet in today from Corvette America whose supplier is actually Auto Custom Carpets, apparantly their are 2 shades for 81/82 Camel carpets, I definitely went w/ the lighter one and I have to say its still much darker than the carpet that's on the door panels and seatbacks. I understand there is 30 years worth of fading but they just dont seem right, colorwise. Befrore I install anyone has any comments??

I had light camel interior and bought a few trim pieces from one of the vette venders. The colors where not even close to matching. I knew right then that a complete interior overhaul was going to be tough to match. The dash pad and door panels where in good shape but almost all the plastic parts where cracked and badly faded. I changed the color to black and now have a car that looks great inside. SEM interior dye was the cure.

Wow! that looks awesome Spikebot. Great job. Hey, let me ask you about that radio - did you need to do any dash modifications? Or is that a bolt in kit?

The newer cd/ radios in todays market wont fit our old dash panels. I was ready to open the hole up for the new system but the console was beond repair so I opted to buy the console with the radio opening already preped for the new din sizes systems. All the vette venders sell them for a really inflated price (IMO). A steady hand and the right tools should open the hole up to the right size without much trouble

I too have a camel interior. The front carpets were done just before I bought it and the rear deck still has the original and yes there is quite a difference!!
